Habitat - Indoor :: WAter heater popped!

i dont know if this is what you had or not, but i recommend a fully submergable heater.. then you can put it horizonal in the very bottom of the tank and not have to worry about the water going below the line...

You're saying the auto shut of didn't work. It may have turned off, but the heater was still hot and you poured the cold water on it and it popped. I too will be getting a stealth heater because my turtles love sleeping next to the heater and night, and they think it's a toy then can use to move around and bite and what not.
