Habitat - Indoor :: Question about tank size

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

A friend of mine just bought two 6 inch RES, both female. He has them in a 55 gallon tank with an xp3 filter. When both of these grow to full size he would need a larger tank and I am assuming he would need like a 240 gallon tank. Could he get away with a smaller tank and how many filters would be needed for the larger tank. Thanks for the opinions

In all fairness to them, they should eventually have a pond. The 55-gallon is really two small, and he's courting some bullying/agression with an inadequate space.

For the larger tank, a pond filter or one of the newer larger capacity canisters (XP4, for example) would probably work, but it also would depend on what else he had in the tank.

well currently all he has in the tank is the filter intake and outflow pipes, few rocks and plants at the bottom, heater, and a basking spot outside and above the tank and the turts have no problem climbing onto the basking spot. I can post a picture I will let him know about the pond.

Places like lowes or TSC (tractor supply company) have preformed ponds or stock tanks.
