You know BigCT I have wondered many many times about that 10gal per inch rule and found nothing to support it. (not that I'm disagreeing, just couldn't find out why).

I've had 3 RES' in a 20gal long tank for nearly a year.. they started as hatchlings and are now all around 3" or a bit more.. no problems with dominance.. and they "seem" to be happy.. swimming all over etc. but its obvious they can use more space. Not to mention its a pain to keep the tank clean. 3 turtles in that little of water.. makes one heck of a mess haha.

10gal per inch is not an official rule, merely a suggestion on determining the minimal tank requirements you should have for a RES. it's important as a guideline and easy to remember. almost everyone goes by it, so it's understandable as to why it considered as a rule. (imho)

hmmmmmmmm may take a little creating but if you have a minds eye and the room you might think of 2 tanks side by side bridged with bark or astro -turf so they can get from one to the other. 2 turts 2 tanks oh my 2 of everything yet together with room? I have also seen some tanks designed and taken in to a specialty glass shop to be made, could be fun to plan it out and let a pro build it?
Don't put a question mark (?) where God has already put a period (.)!
