I'm thinking about building a custom acrylic tank. I've got instructions for the actual tank part, but don't know what I can use to dock/landform.

Anyone know of an easy to work with, non toxic, sturdy material I can use to form a ground area above the waterline? I'd like to make it look like rock and be able to support not only a turtle, but some decoration (rocks, logs, plants,etc) as well. I'm not opposed to using PVC for support if I could cover it to look at least semi natural. I'd also like to know of any non toxic paint/water sealant that could be used.

Here is what I used. Square bricks from the Home Depot garden section. and a couple pieces of flat slate. Very sturdy and the turts like to hide under them. Beware Acrylic scratches easily so use caution puting rocks in there.




Usualy the water is up the very edge of the slate, but this pic was right before water change.

The slate could work well, but I was thinking more along the lines of a plastic that could be molded around supports and filed to look like rock. Kinda like the material a lot of aquarium decorations are made of.
