Also, what kind of sand did you buy? Such as name brand and where? I'm getting sand in a few days and I'm still not sure what kind to get. May have to wait and see what kind they have when I get there!

What views of pics would you like? I won't be able to til I get back to Houston this weekend but I can try and snap some. Also, those little holes aren't meant to be seen through. If you go back a few pages, you'll see that I clouded them up with sand paper so they're not clear. They're just for the lights.

I can't remember the name brand, but I bought it at PetSmart in the aquarium section. It was about 17 dollars for a 15lb bag. Just make sure that the sand you get has minimal gravel mixed into it and you'll be fine. I don't think it has to be a certain brand.

Here's the kind I got today. I washed it out for about 10 minutes, and just dumped it in and it's already clear after about an hour. It's still a little cloudy but you can see the bottom of the tank just fine. I'll take pics later.

Thank you very much!

I'm assuming you're asking why the filter doesn't suck the sand up right? It's because sand is heavy and sinks very quickly. Sand is tiny rocks and sinks just as fast as rocks do do so it stays put on the bottom. If the turt kicks some up near the filter inlet, it might suck a little bit in, but not much.

Hope that answers your question. :)

Ask away, my friend. I am, by no means, an expert though and there are people here that are FAR smarter than I. It's usually best to search first and then start a topic if a search does not uncover your answer. But in this case, all good. :)

And thank you again for the kind words!

If you can, one of it basking, or just anything you want, I don't care.

I would get a pic of Bean basking, but he's still so scared. He just sits at the bottom of the tank all the time. He eats, but only when no one's around. He does bask, but as soon as he sees the top of someone's head over the ledge, SPLASH! He's in the water, at the bottom. :( He even freaks if he's getting air at the surface and I walk over! Hope he get's used to it. :(

Anywho, sorry for that tangent. I'll try to take some pics tomorrow for ya.

Cool, thanks! I would love to have something like yours! But I don't have enough room. When I get my own place I'm going to try to build something like that, if and hopefully I have my turts by then.

Ok. To the request of PCBuilder, I finally got more pics. Didn't know what you wanted so I just took the essentials.

Here's the whole package with the cabinet hardware installed.
Image

Added new plants today.
Image
Image

Un-ghettofied the ramp....a little.
Image

Filter and air pump.
Image

Most of the clips that hold the top of the filter on broke off so I had to think creatively...
Image

Middle door of cabinet.
Image

Left door of cabinet (storage).
Image

Right access panel open.
Image

And here's Bean hiding amongst his new plants.
Image

That's it. It's all done! I might buy a couple more plants and we're going to add a couple real one's to the deck where the pot is and the adjacent corner but it's basically done.
