Go to BigAl's Online bigals.com and get yourself the Filstar XP3 canister filter.

Allright, I got a 20 gallon tank with a over the side filter that was dieing and two RES (one female one male). Couldnt keep the tank clean.

My g/f bought me a "ZooMed Turtle Clean Filter 318" which is clogged in about two days.

Since we decided it wasnt enough we went and bout a "Zoomed Turtle Canister Filter 501" which didnt seem to work at all.

So we thought maybe a bigger tank and got a 55 gal glass aqarium put in 25 lbs of river rock on the bottom and have a medium zoo med turtle dock. Since the 501 wasnt doing much I spent the money and bought a "Fluval Internal Filter 4 Plus". Most of the floaties are gone. But the water is still very murkey. Do I need something more pwoerful? $250+ on a free turle is starting to be a little disconcerning.

Not to mention the guilt I am feeling becuase the turtles do not look healthy. Both shells lack any real color and the female has a smooth spot on her shell. Mind you this is how I got them, but I am trying to help them and give them good living space.

What filter exactly do I need to function for two 6" turtles in a 55 gallon tank?

Mobat and anyone else looking at the XP3(I see you already got one). Petsmart will price match but only w/ Petsmart.com. Don't let this discourage you though, I got almost $80 bucks knocked off my XP3 by bringing in the Petsmart.com printout!! I think you can do this up to 30 days after purchase although then it's call a price adjustment. I got mine the next day. It's shocking how much of a price difference there can be! My wife thought I was on crack when she saw the instore price because we had discussed pricing before I left work. I had to go home and pull up the web site to prove I was sane. And don't let the store people BS you that the online cost will add up after shipping costs. The shipping from the online would have only been $14 bucks so it would have still saved me over $60bucks if I ordered online without the price match.
Cat!! Get off the d**m tank! I hope she bites you!
