Ran into a problem with the drain leaking and after a Google search I'm not alone. The nut that you use to tighten the plug is oblong and really hard to tighten. Most people just use silicone to fix the problem. I did not want to fix the problem with silicone! Found this and will see if I can get one locally today.

Found one locally for $7 Rubbermaid piece of junk one is $15 This is a link to how some people tried to fix the leaking. They should have just bought a heavy duty one so they could have just tightened it. All that silicone looks real nice!

Wow! That looks very roomy.

Can't wait to see it decked out. Are you elevating it somehow so you can use a canister filter, or doing something else for filtration?

Problem fixed. Had to use a hole saw because the drain plug was bigger but no leaking!

I just let the heater freely float. For the FX5, I don't know.... maybe magnetic ones?

Would a 300 watt jager melt the plastic? They don't get hot enough to do that do they?

If it stays in the water, it'll be fine. I forgot, you can also look into an in-line heater system too.

started to working on the tank this morning. I have a drain line right next to the tank so I thought why not use it for cleaning/water changes so I got the parts to make an elbow for my python to fit in as I have a water line running to the whwf . Next was the heater suction cups not sticking to the tank. Easy fix just bought some cheap plexi and mounted it to the tank. Worked great. Added some plants and mopani wood and rocks. Getting closer!

Looking good. Two questions:

1. How do you ensure that no water leaks through where you drilled through?

2. What's the water depth? That overall volume seems huge, but it doesn't seem that deep.

The tank is 25" deep. I plan on leaving the water level down about 8". As far as the whole I drilled its 1" from the top so no need to keep it from leaking. If you wanted to drill holes that would be under water a rubber washer under a stainless steel washer would keep it from leaking.Trust me this tank is big!

Looks really cool! I wish I had a basement this is what I would do myself. What kind of plants are those? Why keep the water level 8" down? More water is always good. Nice setup keep updating
