Sorry to butt in again but its just my nature. Whats the basking temp? 10 inches should be fine. I take it you also have a heat light of some sort? If you told us I'm shortminded

Between 87-90 ish ? My thermometer broke on me -.- I'm gettin a new one soon ! But my water temps about 80-82 , they love to bask lol . They always get up there and stay up there for about 30 mins , then they hop off swim around for a little bit and then they'll get back up there . But when I get my 75 I'm building an ATBA ^.^

I would move the UVB a wee bit closer, but look over the directions. Plus, you need to replace that 2 or 3 times a year.

They do make better uvb bulbs but they are pricy. On the other hand a megaray will last about 1 year.

Have not had a MegaRay update, how is it working out for you after all this time?

Its still working fine and my turtles bask a lot. I do not have a meter but from what I have heard from others they still put out more uvb at 12 months than some others do new.

I paid like 16 for the one I have and its like 4 months old like I said new tank everything new.

Those bulbs are ok but they do make really good ones. The mega Ray is $100 but its a great bulb. Your doing fine just consider it as an upgrade for the future.

That's crazy ! I'll stick to buying a $16 one every couple months lol but I'm building my tank stand probably tomorrow . And maybe getting my tank tomorrow not sure , I haven't ordered my filter I'm not sure if I'm making one or just gunna buy one , I wanted to make a trickle tower sump and use a 500gph power head as the return , if I buy one its gunna be the CFS 500 for $52 off aquatraders , unless I can find one cheaper , any recommendations ? Just no fluvals lol I wish I could but I don't have that much $ to spend xD if I did I'd have the fx6 lol . But I was just gunna make a filter and use bio balls or ceramic rings and filter floss or carbon and sponges .

I think the filter your looking at buying will fit your needs.I have never built my own filter so I can't help out in that department.

The CFS 500 is only 52 on aquatraders lol , I'm just not sure if I can use different media with it or if I have to use specific media in it ..

I think there was a typo with the price, it's not $100 for the self-ballasted version and they sometimes have a 20% coupon.
