Habitat - Indoor :: 300 gallon Rubbermaid stock tank

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

The plants are plastic from hobby lobby . The reason I'm leaving the water down is I'm building a large basking platform and my female is already 4+" long and I don't want her to get out when she gets larger. The tank probably has about 180 gallons in it. It also leaves me room for mounting things..I ordered an jager 300 watt heater from Amazon it came in a box that looked like my cat had a go at it. All tore up with tape around it. No instructions came with it! Plugged it in and guess what ? Yep, It didn't work. But that was ok anyway because the thing was like as long as a baseball bat anyway! So, I ordered a 200 watt from Amazon again but from a different supplier. Got it Friday. Nice new box instructions and it works! Buyer beware! I must admit that's the first time I bought something from Amazon that was broken and had to return. The nice thing is you don't have to pay for return shipping. I also have an Aqueon pro 200 that will also be going in the tank as soon as I figure out what to do about the basking dock. Just thought I would share that with ya all.

I got my heater and filter from Big Al's they have good prices and a coupon code for 10% off. Since jagers are fully submersible just place them underwater. It would be better to raise the water level and use some fencing to keep your little guys from escaping that way you can really utilize the full capacity of the tank I mean you got a 300 gallon enclosure why compromise almost half of it unless you do not have a strong enough filter at the moment. I would say fill the b...h up! :)

Plants look awesome I have always wondered if I should look at outlets other than pet stores since i am concerned about materials being used that might be toxic to turtles.

For now 200 gallons works. I have used fake plants from hobby lobby for years. Just finished the basking dock and moved the fx5 and it seems to be running fine. Water temp is good so just moved the kids and they are freaking out. Basking area is 16"x26"

I think you are going to have some happy turtles. I don't remember, do you have fauna in with your turtles? I was looking at the fake plants on the left and thinking how good that would be for things to hide in. Then I thought how much would get uprooted if a RES was chasing something that had wandered in there.

Thank you Steve. I really enjoy my turtles they have such different personalities . I just bought 4 goldfish that get 12" long see if they survive the night? Oh yea, go buy you one if you have room. I need to put the tank on a raised platform for my filter to work correctly . This weekends project .

You'd have to take your shoes off and go wading to catch a turtle that doesn't want to be caught!
