I would also think that given the normal temperatures in a turtle tank, the acrylic platform should be fine. There might be some minor warping over time but if you have cracking due to temperature changes, then you have a more immediate problem.

Carol, how thick would you say that acrylic is?

Easily a 1/4"... It's not flimsy stuff. Heck I have to tug and yank on it to get it to release off the side of the tank and I've not broken it yet, I don't think the turtles are going to do it by just laying there.. :)

I've got the Lg. Turtle Dock, and my turtle loves it. I just scrub it with a soft brush when cleaning, and give it a rinse. She's almost 10 inches and it holds her weight fine. She has learned to lay closer to the outside edge, if she wants to dangle her feet in the water :) Here's a pic of her using it.

Hey Cam, I'm curious, I just got the dock in the mail. How is this thing adjustable? It seems pretty set to me. Is there a way to lengthen the ramp or something?

Because I notice in your pictures that the angles of the ramps are a lot larger than mine. What size of the ramp do you have?

I have the same ramp you just ordered, only my top part of the ramp is at a higher angle than the one showed in your link at the very beginning of this post. Mine is not able to be adjusted at all. Nonetheless, I absolutely love it. I ordered the large one and there are so many different spots my 4.5 inch turtle can bask on with it. I've read reviews on other sites about people having full grown turtles and it still supporting their weight. It has huge suction cups that attach to the wall. A little algae does grow on it, but nothing bad. I highly recommend this dock/ramp. It allows for swimming underneath as well so it doesn't take away from any tank room! Good luck with yours!

Also regarding the zoo med dock, I have two turtles 6" and 5". The large dock alone would sink from the weight. Since I had previously bought a medium zoo med dock and realized it was to small I had it laying around. The hole pattern on the large and medium are the same, so I put them together on the suction cups with the medium underneath the large. It renforcers it and can hold alot more weight. Ill post a pic later. Outside of building my own I havent found a better solution.

The ramp is not adjustable which I did mention. I have the large one since I have 2 4" turtles that bask on it. You can get the top part rather close to the water as long as it's not touching it so they can fully dry off. You'd have to let your water get rather low for it to be a problem .. the ramp is rather long at least it is on mine.. :)
