Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

All day, when I put it in the tank it immediately fell to the bottom, when filling the tank. Virtually no cloudiness, by the time I had the tank setup for him to go in there was no particals floating around. It wasa long tedious process.

I'll have to try that for my next 50lb bag. I am going to clean the filter out again after I get home tonight to just rinse out any residual sand particles it's picked up over night. I'm sure its a mess because the water was almost clear when I checked it this morning. The Eheim canister filter was worth every darn penny.

Yeah the big, high volume canister filters are greatly helpful.

Well that's great to hear that things are progressing! :) Hopefully when the water is clear we can see what everything looks like. ;)

Yeah Jason's tank should look great, I waited just as much as he is, for the water to clear;) I love driftwood in tanks and the floating driftwood concept he has taken is brillant!

So the water has cleared up a lot, I may have to do a water cycle to really clean it out though. Its been almost a month since I put that water in there. I had to put about 12 gallons or so to fill it to this level when I put the first piece in 2 weeks ago. Anyone know how often and how much of the water you should cycle?

The bases are pretty invisible. I went and bought another 50lb bag of sand and rinsing it now. I'm not putting it in until I clean the crap out of it. I don't care if it takes 3 days straight. Cleaning this filter is ok once in a while, but not every other day because of the sand. What a PITA! I'm hoping me keeping the filter cleaned out, it'll make the water clear up even faster.

The light that casts down from the lights above make it really look like a pond. I need fish! Maybe some hollow rocks for hiding spots for the fish. Maybe some fake plants. This has taken a complete life of its own, pretty fun to build this!

I turned the flash off in these to maybe show the shadows wood is making from above. My iPhone camera isn't the best.

My father in law came up with the idea to use the bases with the clear acrylic tubes filled with black sand. Definitely a great idea, and he made the stands. He builds physics labs for a major college. Does this kind of thing every day.

keeps your mind sharp. I'm not much for video games or t.v., I try to stay active and keep thinking. I didn't go in there today but I'm sure it a bit clearer. If not, I'll cycle the water.

Anyone know how often and how much water you should cycle? I was thinking 25-30% water change.

Sophia has been super aggressive with Cojack. She is chasing Cojack every chance she can around the cage and biting her hard and not letting go. I'm going to have to separate them. I'm pissed.

Why do you suppose that they are doing that? Did they ever do that before?

might be the limited space where they can't have their own territory.

This seems to happen regularly... a new, bigger enclosure creates territorial issues. Since they're females, I would take out the aggressor and return her only for short periods of time and under supervision. You can also just create a divider :(
