Hello,

We have adopted two RES. One male and one female. They are about 7 years old.
We received a very old tank and filter when they were given to my son.
We upgraded and now have a 40 gallon long tank along with a EHEIM Classic External Canister Filter with Media. The in tank filter has worn out and have to replace that now too.
What is the best in tank filter to use with two adult RES turtles.
This cleaning the tank every week is already getting old and a lot of work.
Never thought these little guys would be so fun to watch just want to give them a clean tank to live in.
Please help.
Thanks

Things to do to keep tank clean.
#1 Don't use pebbles or river rock as substrate. Use sand or a few large rocks or leave bare.
#2 Use a quality cannister filter that will filter 3 times your tank volume every hour.
#3 Feed your turtles in a seperate container.
#4 Install a maxi jet circulation pump.

I'm not sure about keeping softshell turtles as pets? I guess you could? Here in Kansas they usually get caught on your fishing line and sre considered a nuisance. Much like snapping turtles.
