I will! I just ordered the plastic online. Home depot had some acrylic sheets, but they were expensive. I found a place online that cuts the acrylic for you, and I got more plastic for my money. I just ordered it so hopefully it will be here for me to work on next weekend.

I noticed you have a Plecto as well. Does the RES ever go for it? Or nip at it at all?? We were thinking of getting one to keep the bottom a little tidier.

Thanks

A pleco will also contribute to the waste in the tank. Most need some hiding spots and some are aggressive. You'll just need to keep an out for any of that behavior.

So easier to just keep the turtle alone?

Maybe we will get a pleco to put in a seperate tank with some friendly fish he gets along with.

It depends on the size of the tank and how you want to keep it. Some RES are overly aggressive and would constantly harass the pleco. Some have noted very aggressive plecos, including one that damaged the shell (though that is rare).

It goes without saying, DIY is a story of trial and error. The first 'version' of it had a much steeper slope, no hockey tape and the white legs were straight down. It failed for many reason; the slope being too steep, the turtle couldn't climb it. Also the surface was perfectly smooth due to it being plexiglass. And the center of mass was easily displaced away from the legs, thus making it fall over.

Even she seemed to like it at first, my turtle doesn't bask much anymore. She prefers to go mess in the wires and try to get out of the wire with them (impossible. Go figure.

Looks great! Do be careful because they can get out and use a different or no substrate. Welcome to forum!

Hi, I'm an absolute newbee here and new to turtles as well. I am making an aquarium for my two turtles (Grinch and Gush). The dimention of the aquarium is 50cmX40cmX40cm (lenghtXbreadthX height). The turtles are about 1inch in size one and I'm wondering if I fill the water till 3/4th of the aquarium size whether it's going to be too deep for my turtles.

It'll take me some time to finish the project becuase I'm making not only aquarium but also a 3d background, turtle dock, canister filter, aquarium top etc. after which I'm going to post it here but hopefully someone can answer my query.

thanks in advance
