i wish i could figure out how to find my pics on this ipad. anyhow i have a turtle topper and i have tried and tried (to the tune of the destruction of my 80g tank i had for all of two days) to switch to another type of basking device because the ramp is so short u have to have the water level so so high (like3-4 inches from top)....i saw on amazon an acrylic ramp and wondered if i could just fit it over the other. mr. turtle is very inflexible it seems...he let me get another turtle (baby turtle) who just shadows his every move (except when it comes to food)...he even lets little turtle bask on his back but as far as the turtle topper goes, when i tried something else, he first dismantled it, then got his giant conch shell and literally rammed it so hard against the glass that he fractured it. 80g is more water than u might think when it is pouring out onto everything. fixed it and two days later.....ditto. back came the turtle topper and he is just fine now. (damn mr. turtle must be a taurus or a gemini....what do u think about the acrylic ramp?

Try the acrylic ramp, but start by putting the turtle topper on it.

I had started with one of those ZooMed floating docks, but it did not work well. I built an acrylic atba, but Toby didn't want to use it.

I put the ZooMed dock on the atba, and all was good.

thanks for ur input guys! i figure it is just like everything else has been so far....i ponder, investigate, seek, obtain, implement....and in the end, it is all up to him. never in my life could anyone have ever gotten me to believe that a turtle could be so stubborn, picky, stuck in their ways, fickle and just plain puzzling.....or could have i ever foreseen or fathomed that i would love a turtle so darn much.

when i watch baby turtle just idolizing big turtle, it makes my eyes misty...and causes me to wonder what her temperament
will be like....

so, i ordered the ramp and time will tell....

oh yeah, i forgot to say so doggone expensive as well !!!!!

im trying to upload my picture.....trying.....

To get your pictures off of your iPad you can just go into the Photos icon. then to Picture Reel then click on the picture you want. On the bottom left corner of the screen will be an icon that looks like a box with an arrow going out the right of it. Click that and a new window will pop up. From there I would suggest emailing the pictures to yourself. Once you have done that you can go to your computer and save them to your my pictures folder. Then go to a site like www.photobucket.com and sign up for an account. You can then upload the pictures to their site. Then you come back here and use the IMG code link and just copy and paste it here. And POOF! Turtle pictures!

If you don't want to create an account, imgur.com is very good too.

I decided to copy CBRBoy900 and make an acrylic topper and raise my water level up. I can go another 1" - 1.5" higher with the water but I'm going to wait till this weekend when I switch out the rock for pool filter sand and setup the XP-XL.

I hope this isn't a stupid question but I'm really not super crafty. For those of you who have the ATBA with the acrylic walls glued together, how do you have the walls secured to the basking area? Do you somehow have the walls attached to your tank or just sitting on top of the basking floor?
I plan to use eggcrate for the floor of the basking area, but I'm not sure how the walls connect to it.
Thanks!

I have mine just sitting inside the ledge of my tank. I had mine made to fit snug so I don't have to worry about it being knocked off.
