susb8383, i wanted to go with the green artificial turf but I ended up stumbling across a section of floor mats at the hardware store. I found that stone print rubber mat. It's basically a door/welcome mat made of rubber that I cut to fit, only 12 bucks...
Also now that ur pictures are loading ur set up is pretty cool! I like how there have become 2 different styles of ATBA's. The full tank cover build such as my style and the partial size build that only consists of housing the ATBA. Yours is clean. My goal was to go for somthing that looks commercial and not completely hand made ect...

Tucker Allen wrote:Hey Everyone! I haven't posted in a long time, however, I look at the info on this site, which is amazing, almost every week. I have looked at every picture under this topic and am very excited to start building my ATBA! Here is my current set up. I am going to put shelving brackets on the wall behind the tank, and build a plexiglass box to rest on these brackets. I'll have a ramp going into the water so Tucker can get up. I'm also going to make a portion of the ATBA a nesting area since Tucker is a girl. I am still pricing materials and hope to get started soon. I just had to post something though! Thanks for this website and all of the great ideas!!!! It's by far and away the best animal site on the internet in my opinion.

I see you have a dock for your turtle in the first picture, but what is the object your turtle is climbing on in the picture?

I've read this entire thread over the last few days. All I can say is WOW....all of the ATBA are creative. Some are just incredible. You all have inspired me to upgrade mine. I've crafted one a few years back. Was proud of myself back when I made it. Over the years its been abused. Moving, cleaning...etc. Still safe, no worries.
Today I went to Lowes with all my dimensions and whatever supplies I would need. I will post pic when finished. Along with anything I used to create.
Thank you everyone for the inspiration.

Clydes basking area Turtle Condo
I found Clyde in my yard mid Dec. He wasn't a planned pet so it's taken awhile to be able to get his habitat together. I got the turtle "condo" from Big Apple Herp. Clyde adapted to it easily and used his new basking platform the same day it was introduced. He has no problem getting up the platform ramp. It comes with a screened top too. It looks really nice and gives him a big basking area with plenty of room to move around and allows full use of tank below so water can be almost to the top. The "condo" is an acrylic so very lightweight. The weight comes from the ramp and platform - it's very sturdy, but I suspect if dropped it will break. The ramp and basking platform are molded together.

It took awhile to get condo because first condo shipped the ramp arrived broken, but they made good on it and sent an entire new condo setup. I have a Fluval filter model 406, heater, uva/uvb light and infrared heat lamp.
Watch the turtle. He only moves forward by sticking his neck out.

So I read through all 51 pages of this topic and I got really excited about all of the cool basking areas I was seeing, so I decided to make one myself.
After about a week I finally got it all finished and I am super excited for Mr.T
Reading everyone's posting definitely helped me decide how I was going to make it, and what I was going to use. Thanks everyone!
Here is the finished product! :D

Very nice!

Great stuff! He definitely seems to appreciate the setup. Quick Question: That open portion near the ramp, has he tried to Houdini yet or is it far enough apart to not let him?

That looks very nice! Is there anything holding down the acrylic besides the lamps?

The three sides are glued together with silicone and the top piece is glued to the acrylic

Oh, if it's silicone, it won't hold onto the acrylic long. You might have to use acrylic cement or even clear packaging tape.
