Habitat - Indoor :: what can i put in the tank?

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

when we first got squirtle & toto, we bought fake plants & a little cave for them to hide in/play on. as they got older, we'd find the plants floating everywhere, and it wasn't worth putting back, cuz the next day they'd be floating again. so we took the plants out, and added sea shells. we cleaned the tank out, changed the water & the filter yesterday, and we took the cave out as well, seeing as they don't fit in it anymore, and they hardly play on it. all we had left were seashells, but yesterday i found the biggest one flipped over [i was amazed & couldn't believe how such a small turtle could flip something twice his size] and the rest of the shells were moved around. i don't want to take those out, cuz then the tank will look so plain. is there any other decoration i can put in the tank?

i wanted to buy those live plants from petco and put one in the tank. is this safe for my 2 RES?

leave the shells there, when they turts push them around, they're playing. Do you have the fake plants that suction on the side of the tank? If not, you can get those. you can also put stones in there that they can push around. A bubble wand also provides entertainment for them.

Some live plants are ok. check the feeding/nutrition stickies for plants that can be fed (but beware--they make a MESS)

It's most commonly found in fish tanks. It's an air pump that makes bubbles in the tank. they come in lots of different shapes/sizes. My brother had a sunken ship bubblewand, the bubbles came out of the hatch. It was pretty cool.

It's relatively easy to get some aquarium silicone and silicone a flat rock to the base of the a plastic plant. The rock stays weighted down, and you and your turt can take turns rearranging them. :)
