if you have a turtle dock, does your turtle chew on it? my turtle keeps biting chunks off it and i think hes eating it. i only saw him do it with my own eyes once. but he might be doing it when im not watching as well.

We have one too. I remember the first day I put it in the tank. They never tried to eat it but they would try to swim behind the black bars that it is attached to and we were so afraid they would get stuck and die when we weren't home. :? I hope that all works out for you and that yours stops trying to eat it. I'm sure some will come along later that knows more about it than me. Good luck!

Mine took a few bites off the dock when I first got it. He realized that I put better food in the tank once a day, so he stopped trying to eat it.

Mine ate the dock too, until I made sure there was a constant supply of cuttlebone in the tank. I really believe they were trying to get calcium by eating the dock. Try it.

Once the cuttlebone sinks, should it be thrown away, or should I stick it up on his dock.

I take mine out of the water, let it dry off again and then it floats.

do you guys think it will harm the turtle if it eats it? or it will just pass through the system, my turtle is ALWAYS hungry... it can eat until it dies.

Tinyslider2 and Happy the cow, I have a small trutle dock for now and I was so afraid that they would get stuck or drown when I first got it, haven't seen them eat it or try but tonight I changed the water and couldn't get all the suction cups undone at one time and I ripped it right where the black plastic is suppose to stay...So to say the least I have to buy another one :( btw I didn't keep the box it came in but was wondering if Petsmart will take it back :?:

They probably won't take it back because if you were a bit more careful it probably wouldn't have broken. :-) Are both the holes ripped? With just one it should still stay in place. I've returned a couple and they gave me new ones but it was because they were damaged during shipping.
