Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Just out of curiosity (and a bit out of boredom), what are your next plans for tanks and ponds? I have a 125 gallon glass aquarium that will eventually get an above tank basking area.

I'll been looking into 300 gallon stock tanks as well, since it is inevitable that I will get more turtles. A special extended frame will probably go along with this tank so I can have a separate basking area and a land area as well.

I'm looking into stock tanks now myself. I'm thinking around 300 or 400 gallons so it can hold my girls, plus whatever adoptees I end up with (after quarantine of course). The house we bought has an extra room in the basement that we'll be using as a reptile room...I'm just wondering if/how i'm gonna get that sucker through the door and down the stairs, as I have no idea what the dimensions are. For basking, i was thinking of building it out of pvc pipe and slate rock or something on top. I want it to sit right in the middle of the tank so they can't get out, and I'm going to make it big enough to hold at least 2 adult females. I have NO idea how I'm going to accomplish this. I'm creative but not very handy

i have always wanted a tank(turtle or fish) that is sooo large that it basically becomes the wall. like 8 foot tall, 2 feet deep, 15 feet long.
fill it with whatever pet is to be kept. would give me hours and hours and hours of entertainment everyday.
another fantasy i recently had was to make the tank a part of a window. so that the window glass would actually be one side of the tank. would be great for neighbors to see. they would point and call it the "fish tank house". but of course some measure of protection must be taken for some punk kid will inevitably throw a stone at it.

Make that side of the tank 3/4" lexan. That stuff will stop 357 Magnum round with ease... :) Ive always wanted a tank in the wall between 2 rooms so if your in one room you see one side of the tank etc....WHen you think about filtration and maintenance its a lot more complicated than u think. It has been done tho. Theres a James bond movie with the crazy under sea guy... he had em.

steve, if you get rid of that tank, i could really use one, as mine is way to small, i need one desperatly, any chance you would be able to give it up? :D

EDIT:
10 gallon tanks suck

do you think i should just go for a 55 gallon starterkit for $158?

oooor, i could use one thats recycled :D:D:D

i almost got one from freecycle.com, 75 gallon for free, but it was gone :'(

wish I could help out, but it's a homemade tank that I'll likely keep turtles in there for a long time. I would really look into stock tanks, so 300 gallons is a real affordable possibility.

You cant see into stock tanks, and i love to see my turtles under the water.

when or if i move in with my sister in her 7 bedroom house, i would seriously think about something like that.

what would be super cool is if you could have like an indoor/outdoor pond.
for example, a pond that is outside along the house wall and it caves into the basement and up to another opening so you can feed them from inside the house. a lot like an indoor/outdoor swimming pool. and slong the inside the whole side of it would be glass or lexan so we could just sit and watch. a lot like at the zoo/aquarium
