Habitat - Indoor :: turtle and lobster

I was at Big Al's the other day and they had a Royal Blue Crawfish. It looks like a 2" neon blue lobster--so cool. I was watching him run around his tank for 20 minutes. I was thinking about putting him in my turtle tank but don't know if theyll get along. If they scrap im not sure who would end up eating who as my RES are about 2" as well.

I saw those at the pet store here too. They certainly are beautiful critters...well, as far as lobsters go anyway. I thought briefly about getting one but I wasn't sure if they were freshwater animals or not. Even so, I didn't want to risk injury to my turts. Even if it didn't harm your turtles, it would eventually end up as a really expensive feeder item.

I have had Lucky in the tank with my 2 RES for a few weeks, he and the 2 craw fish hide most of the day so there isnt a fighting problem. When he does come out during the day the turtles really dont even pay any attention.

crawfish in the tank?!? woooot. i think that'll be my next buy. unless someone thinks it's a bad idea......

I've already stated my opinion on this, however, if it has plenty of places to hide you might be ok. It wouldn't last a day in my tank because it's a bare bottom tank with very few decorations and no real hiding spot.

The crawfish looks so happy. I would get another one to get them to multiply. (an army of poop cleaners)

Does a lobster actually eat the turt poop? If he does them im gettin one for sure..

Again... I would advice against putting a turtle with anything but feeder fish.

I would advise taking the fish tank rocks out of your tank.

i second that, put larger rocks, bigger than their head, ones about...4 in diameter will be good for a logn while, and save money on rocks, so take them out.

Is there a danger in putting aquarium gravel in the tank, or do you just advice to take them out for aesthitic reasons?

Turtles will eat anything they can in their tank, and eating gravel is very bad for them. Just because they aren't seen eating it, doesn't mean they don't. It's better to be safe.

Umm I would never have a crawfish/lobster in my tank. I had a crab in my fishtank when I had fish, he got out constantly even with a screen over the tank that I had put tape all around it. That crab caused my a lot of problems and was horrible to take care of, which is why I suggest with the crawfish and lobster to not do get them and put them in a tank. Plus if you get feeder fish, some of them may go after the feeder fish. I know my crab tried to eat/kill my goldfish. So that's my two cents.
