Her setup is basically by the book I guess. She has a thirty gallon tank filled a little more than halfway. For her basking spot she has a floating rock that is held on to the side by suction cups. Underneath the basking spot is a water filter. Those are all on the left side. On the right side is a under water heater that is positioned diagionally on the side corner of the tank. For her toys she has a budda, which she likes to push down. On the bottom of her tank I have brown and black river rocks that she likes to push around and dig into. I think she digs because she knows her food is under her in her cabinat. We have a closed lid tank with a full spectrum light. I open the lid at least three times a week to help keep the moisture down. We will soon be getting her a UVB light for the winter. Where we live we are able to take her out and let her play on the deck for 3/4th of the year. That is my Pokey's house. If you like I could take some pictures for you. We named her that because when we first got her she would poke her head out at us a lot, and because turtles are slow walkers when they are little.
[color=violet]Oh, she is a little speed deamon now, but when we brought her home she was afraid and was very cautious. Now, when I take her out and let her walk around I have to build a little "play pen" for her.
When people mention letting their turts out to 'walk around' it gives me the willies. There are so many potential hazards in and around the house that I really wouldn't advise it. If you've got her housed properly, she really doesn't need to be out of the tank.
Oh, and welcome
