I have a 7" RES and I recently gave him a couple fake plants. They are the ones that are stuck in a cluster of glued little rocks. One of them is pretty small and the other is quite large with big leaves. It's been about a month now and the issue is my turtle keeps trying to eat the large plant. Most of the leaves are partially shredded. He doesn't seem to catch on that they're fake.
There is no way I could put live plants in - he would just eat them all immediately as he is a huge pig that devours everything instantly. If I take away his plants, he would be pretty upset if I didn't replace them because he loves to just sit in them when he's not being retarded and trying to eat them. He never has tried to eat the little one. They are both some kind of cloth-like fabric and I'm wondering if there are more plastic-ish types of plants that can't be eaten but also still look nice underwater.
Any help with this would be appreciated.
