Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

I saved up $300 to buy my turtle a new tank. He was in a 15 gallon tank and he is 3 inches and now I can afford to buy him something bigger. What size tank would be the best for him? Also what kind of filter would work well in a bigger tank. I currently have this heater http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.j ... Id=2752191 (100 watt) and this filter http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.j ... lInUS%2FNo. Also what additional things should I buy for the new tank?

Buy that largest tank and filter you can afford. I would suggest looking at the a 40 gallon "breeder" tank as the minimum size with a 50-100 gallon being better. Go wider than taller as it gives the turtle more room to turn around. If possible go for a used tank to save some cash.

There are a ton of threads on filters. Look into getting a external canister filter from some suggestion would be a SunSun / Perfect / Aquatop, Rena Filstar XP3 or L, and the top of the line Fluval FX5/FX6.

I think I will try to get the 75 gallon. Can I also get another res turtle? If I got another male would they fight?

Putting two turtles in one tank is always risky. Unless you have a backup plan I would not suggest it.

+1 on a 75 gallon +FX5, I have been running mine for about 18 months with no maintenance except adding water every couple weeks.

FX5 would be great. For the price of a new 75 gallon, you might find a used 100 gallon... I'd keep that in mind.
