As for being accidentally eaten, which would be safer, linen or plastic? My thoughts are that plastic would be hard to tear it off, but I think they would definitely be able to eat them. Linen, on the other hand, I think would be really hard for them to tear off. What are your thoughts? If you have experience, which I'm sure a lot of you do, what would you recommend, and why?

I don't use any but I think plastic ones are a bit more popular. They should be easier to clean as well.

Real is always better, but they have a tendency to get eaten or shredded.

I use the cloth "silk" plants. They seem to last a bit larger for me than the plastic. Real plants are a possibility, but they bring a whole other level of complications because you have to keep them alive and growing and most turtles will destroy them.
