Habitat - Indoor :: Eheim Canister Filter

We just set up a new Eheim 2217 Canister filter for a 80 gallon tank. We have one slider about 8-9". Has anybody used this filter and if so how often do you find you need to clean it? We feed her protein meals in a separate tub to keep the tank a little longer before needing water change. Veggies we feed in the tank.

You'll want to clean it once or every two month... depends on what media you use. If you prefilter the water, I'd think 2 months is reasonable. You will still want to do a partial water change, every 2-4 weeks.
