Habitat - Indoor :: Basking platform

So, my sister built a basking platform for my red eared slider. We were Thinking of filling it wIth Sand. Does it matter what type of sand?

Also- we are still trying to decide how to build a ramp- any suggestions?? Thanks!!

Pool filter sand would be the best, and play sand works too but will need a bit more effort to clean since its a finer grain.
