Is this a good basking bulb?

It says it provides both UVA and UVB, but I just wanted to make sure.
I would be using it with this lamp. (5 1/2 in)

I've got a zoomed uvb similar to that, but I find it doesn't give enough heat, so I also use a second regular lamp for the heat. However, I don't see anywhere on that link you posted what percentage of uvb the bulb gives... You may want to contact the manufacturer to find out how much uvb the bulb actually produces (example: 5% or 5.0)

Just get a Mercury Vapor Bulb, that provides UVA, UVB, and heat. Popular brands are the T-Rex Active UV Heat and the Zoo-med Powersun.

The bulb you linked us to provides UVA and UVB, but barely any heat. You'd have to have that bulb over the basking area and another lamp to provide heat.

MVBs are good for larger set-ups, but if you have a smaller tank, they'll most likely give off too much heat. The bulb in the link is a UVB bulb that gives off a minimal amt of UVB rays (3%). You could use it (change it at least every 6 months) and use a regular lightbulb next to it to provide heat.

When you say "larger set-ups", what do you mean? Would a 30 gallon tank heat up too quickly with one of those bulbs?

MVb's aren't recommended for tanks under 50 gallons. Yes, it would overheat a 30 gallon tank.
