I have seen in pets stores that they put the color gravel, (red, blue). Is this good for the turtle? I have these big rocks that I bought a bag full of in a pet store.. thanks, first time poster..

Don't do gravel or glass rocks- although pretty- both are harmful to your turtles! With gravel they can eat it and have issues and with glass rocks they chip over time and that as well could get swallowed by your RES! They like to "try" just about everything in their tank- or atleast that's been my experience! Gravel also makes for much harder clean up- I was told if anything should go on the bottom of the tank (you don't need anything) to put large river rocks that your RES can not swallow and only put about 20 or so! It makes the tank look nicer and is something for your turtle to "play" with!
