How far should the light be from the dock? I have a 50 watt bulb.
Thanks!

1st criteria: Your turtle cannot touch it or bump into it
2nd criteria: It cannot get wet or have water splashed on it
3rd criteria: It needs to warm the area roughly 10 degrees F warmer than the water

I have a 10 gallon tank that is filled to approx 2-3 inches from the top. The light clamps on the side of the tank. Is the tank too full and the light too close? Should I take some water out so the light is closer to 12 inches away?

You need a wattage and distance from your turtle that will warm the basking area to 88-90F and not be close enough for your turtle to touch. Basking area should be about 10 degrees warmer than the water temp.

From that pic, your turtles have a potential escape route on the dock. They could stack up and get out...
