Habitat - Outdoor :: Morning or Afternoon Sun?

Ponds and other outdoor enclosures.

My mom gave me her 125 gallon pond (I've been asking for it for years-- it's been sitting in her garage)... and I want to install it this weekend. I have 2 spots in my backard.

1. Where I really want it. It has shade, get's the morning/early afternoon sun (sunrise- 3:00) and near the patio so we can enjoy it.

2. Good spot also but in the back corner of the yard- far from enjoyment. :) This spot is shaded over in the morning, but gets the sun from about 12:00-sunset.

So my question is-- would the morning sun be better for basking, or the afternoon? Harvey has no issues with people. He is outside in a big baby pool and will bask while anyone is walking around. He's the same way inside. I can pick him up off his basking area and put him back down and he'll stay. So I'm not worried about privacy for him.

Any info would be great!

I would say that the afternoon to evening would have the greatest range of warmer temps. I am not sure how it would affect your turtle except on how accessible it would be based upon where you set the pond up at.
I could not guess about the difference from one to the other except area, shade and sun time based on the day.

I picked spot #2. I can make a nicer area out of it, and it had the longest sun time for Mr. Spoiled. We started digging tonight- ran into a few roots that need to be axed (just did that 3 weeks ago when we put the fence up- uggg).
