Ponds and other outdoor enclosures.

For those of you with outside ponds, if you're a little squeemish about walking around in the pond with your bare feet, but you need to get in the pond from time to time, why don't you try some waders. I got some big rubber waders like the ones deep sea fishermen use - they come up higher than my waist - and they are perfect for walking around in the pond. They were only $20 (on sale) at Academy.

A word of warning: Do NOT put the waders on if anyone around you has a camera! They will own you for life if they get a Kodak moment of you in your waders!

Not yet. I'm still trying to fix the pond so it's safe for Spot. If I ever see the guy that built this pond, well.....he'd better look out! I'm trying to seal all the places where little pieces of rock or concrete are flaking into the water. I've got some good epoxy sealant, but the walls of the pond have to be dry and lately every three days or so it's rained so it's going very slowly. I got in the pond with the waders when there was still water in it to get the filter out and do a little maintenance and just generally to see what it would be like.

I'm worried a bit about being able to get Spot out once he gets in. The pond's pretty deep and with the black liner it's very dark. I'll have to be sure Spot remembers who feeds him so he'll always come to me!
