Hi I have a six year old cutie and made her a really awesome outdoor habitat. I went to a feed store and purchased a two hundred gallon horse trough. I buried it in the ground so that the lip of the trough was flush with the ground. I built a ramp area so she could climb out of the trough and crawl around her grass and dirt area that we have fenced off. she has heaters in the winter and a basking lamp-uvb lamp in addition the the real sun that half her enclosure receives. She is one happy Pickle

Nice ponds everybody. How much water is lost to evaporation? Can you go away for 2 weeks and not worry about it?

I lose quite a bit with evaporation, especially in the summer months. You can go away for 2 weeks, yes, and not worry about it, but after 2 weeks, you will need to address it.

I agree, and also if you have someone who could come and just check everything once or twice, just to make sure your filter is running OK.

Wow...these pics are so amazing...I can never make my turtle habitat look that way....but....I'll take some advice from the pro's!!!!


Guita is a RES from the Caribbean Island of Puerto Rico, lots of heat, and she eats nothing but raw meat...believe it or not...She is a survivor of a car hit, patched with fiberglass and 5 minute epoxy by Dr. Nuñez. We took her in cause we were told that she could never survive back in the wild, so we're up for the challenge....

Your enclosure is coming along great so far. I would add lots of plants for her to get out of the sun...very important...also you might want to test out that little black fence a bit......You will not believe what they can climb out of
