Habitat - Outdoor :: Smart idea? Bury 100g in Phx? Algea control? Outdoor home?

Ponds and other outdoor enclosures.

I think that you'd have issues with the pressure hitting the tank both from the water weight and the soil.
What I would do is sell the 100g tank and use the money to buy a much cheaper stock tank, you definitely wouldn't be losing money there. Plus you have the added peace of mind that the stock tank CAN safely be buried.

As for your backyard- is it fenced in or contained? If not, you'll at least need something around the turtle area. Turtles are roamers, and they don't have the sense to return home to their pond at night. So if yours isn't fenced in it will simply take off.

I just realised recently that putting my pond in the entire left center of my backyard probably wasnt the greatest idea. After my 3rd week or so the algea is out of control, so bad that im thinking about dumping it out and restarting since its still farely new. The heat is great for the turts, but think that i should have put them in a little bit of a shady area, but that would have been close to the fence which i didnt want to do. Im going to have to plant some trees close to the pond and hope they dont root my pond up in the next few years. Im hearing alot about a uv stabilizer which would probably be a good investment cause of the sun also.

the algae will be more to deal with in the summer months. My turt pond here in Phoenix is is sunlight all day. During the summer months you will need to drain and clean the pond prolly every couple weeks, unless you have some plants in the pond that will help keep the algae level down. I use pond algae control liquid and put a cap-full in once a week, and that will keep it down. It won't hurt your turt or fish, as its made for being in ponds with fish and turts. It helps, i would try that.
