Ponds and other outdoor enclosures.

We have an outdoor pond with 5 RES. The largest one is outside rain or shine. She will go in the water periodically but we don't know why she is out with no sun. The rest of the RES stay in the water all the time now that it's winter. Any ideas?

My 9" penn cooter Liza will bask quite a bit every day - even if it's overcast & (relatively) cold. I'm sure it's something she'd do in the wild - dry off the shell frequently to prevent fungus, etc. The DBT seems to do the same too. They never stay out ALL day though...maybe someone else has an idea?

Is it possible she's being harassed so much in the water she avoides it? One of the males maybe?
