In the video the male is following the female. Usually, the female gets annoyed with the male always following her -- he usually tries to show off his nails to her. When she gets annoyed, she will chase him around the pond, trying to bite him, until he decides to ascend to a different level of the pond. If you are interested I can try to get a video of that behavior.

The bottom level of the pond is the deepest, so they tend to be in that pond the most.
