I just got a XP3 for christmas, and hooked it up - all was fine, was working. Except it didnt come with the ceramic rings.

So today I bought some and decided to put them in. I lifted up the black handle, left it for a minute then took the entire top off. I then put the rings in, put the top back on and pushed the leaver back down.

Now i'm not getting any flow at all in both directions. I tried unplugging it, and plugging it back in. But i'm still getting no flow at all. Motor is running, but no flow action.

And also when I went to push the leaver down, it was pretty hard, and I heard a strange sound - sounded like a crack of sort but nothing looks damaged. No idea why it was so hard to push back down.

Ideas?

Sounds like it lost its prime. You can break out the funnel and make sure the intake is filled. It would be easy to reprime everything again, though you'd have to dump out the water from the canister.

The crack sound could have been the media baskets. They have to be seated/stacked tightly or the lid won't close properly/tightly. I've noticed that the lever is a bit stiff, though I've never heard a loud crack.

Fixed it, I never cut my tubes and they were to long, dropping below the canister before going up.

I never cut my tubes, and I never had a problem.

Depending on how you have the filter positioned under the tank, you might not need to (I think the mfgr's instructions suggest cutting some, though---I had to cut about 4 inches off of my hoses, I think).

I just left mine in case because when the next upgrade comes we wont have to buy new hoses if we needed the full length.
