I bought about 15 dollars worth of this wood that sinks to the bottom of the tank. It said it was presoaked im assuming forever since it actually got the wood to sink. I didnt read anything about chemicals being put into it and i was just wandering if anyone else is using this before i actually put it in my tank.

What type of wood is it? I've gotten wood from Petsmart, grape wood I believe and it should be soaks prior to putting it in your tank to get some of the tanins out of it... The tanins can and will discolor your water. There are a few posts on this .. you can do a search for tanins to find them.

Is this the wood they sell that's in with the plants? At the Petco near me there's a tank with dark wood that's for sale along with the aquatic plants in it. If it says it's for aquariums, the wood should be OK for turtles. What are you using it for, a cave or decoration?
