Will this cheap lamp from Home depot do the trick? I need a second one and the pet store wants a lot more cash.

The quick answer is yes if you're using an incandescent bulb. Halogens, MVBs and heat emitters are larger and heavier, so I would be very careful. It would also be a good idea to have a screen between the tank tank and bulb, something like hardware cloth. Don't forget to plug your equipment into a GFCI.

You can also use that type of clamp light for a UVB CFL. Many people on this forum use that exact clamp light.

they work great for me. i have them on my turtles tanks, snake cage and bearded dragons cages as well as one of my gecko cages. as long as you secure them good
