Hi all,

Anyone here use or have used the Exo Terra Turtle Heater? If so, can anyone confirm if it's fully submersible?

It probably is BUT there are a few reasons I would not:

The guard is not something I would want a turtle to mess with
The instructions indicate not to
It's not adjustable

This is actually the model heater I've been using for over two years. The lack of adjustability doesn't concern me as I monitor the water temperature daily (sometimes more, if needed). Define please "the guard."

Ah. For me, it hasn't been an issue. It actually isn't a bad thing as my turtle has been known to bite cables. Twice now, she's actually chewed through one, and the simple angle and pressure of the cable itself is all the prevented her from being fried.

No, I've never fully submerged it, but was wondering if this one could be as it would give me a few more mounting options. Not the end of the world though.

I don't think I've ever seen her try to bite the cable of these heaters. She has other ones, and ate through the cables on two different Fluval heaters over the years.

Is the cord thickness normal with the wire wrapped around it? The cords on Eheims are very thick though a medium sized turtle could still snip at it.

Yup, it's normal cord thickness. My turtle could definitely chomp on it without the guard if she wanted to.

Interesting points both of you revealed in your postings on this thread regarding the Exo Terra Turtle Heater. I never owned this model but it is great to have the knowledge both of you have provided. Thank you.

One trend is that there are more expensive "turtle" branded equipment and supplies, but seldom are very good or necessary.
