Hi I just bought a D3 compact reptile light for my turtle, I'm just wondering is it safe to use this lights while they are on and I'm sharing my room with my turtle? Are there any health risks involved especially to my eyes and skin?

If your tank is in your living room or bedroom, make sure the light faces the wall. I'd imagine that looking at a uvb light would be the same as looking into the sun.

Is it the Reptisun Compact Flourescent? If so, they do have a warning on them about staring at the light. That said, on one of my tanks the only way I could position the UVB light was so that it faced me (but at the opposite side of the tank and it's partially hidden by the dome of the heat lamp). I have inadvertently looked at it a few times, and I suppose time will tell if any damage has been done. The lights are not nearly as strong as the sun, though, and distance will affect how strong the rays are. To be on the safe side, just don't look directly at it.

The one I bought is the Arcadia D3 Compact Reptile Light, I have already talk to Arcadia sales representative and they told me to treat their light as just any standard household light, of course they will say this because they don't want to say anything against their product. As for any warning on the box I did not see any.
