Yes, They come with the course sponges for the bottom, then the middle basket you will need to get biological media, the top basket it comes with a carbon pouch and a water scrubber. Anything else... it's up to you..

I'm behind you by 1 minute with this post, seems i'm chasing you through the forum lol

A water scrubber is the final stage of filtering, please bare with me i've had a few drinks.

Stage 1 Mechanical : This is done with the corse sponges. It comes with 4 of them, 2 of each size. You want the largest holes at the bottom of the basket, and the smallest at the top.

Stage 2 Biological : This is done with Ceramic Stars or Rings. These will grow benificial bacteria that will help keep your tank regulated. In the end this will help all around with your tank. What you can get to add to the second basket would be: Biomax Rings (i bought the fluval brand), SeaChem Matrix Rocks, and Ceramic Stars. Dont worry about the brand they all do the same thing and are interchangeable.

Stage 3 Chemical: This is done with the carbon pouch. This is the final stage of filtration before it goes back out the discharge tube and into your tank. This will remove the smell and other unplesent things associated with your tank. The water scrubber is on the very top. And this is a very fine pad that will filter out any nasty water.

Note, you wont have to replace these every month, rinse until clean, and if it dosent become clean, replace it. You dont need to add all 3 types of biological Media, the more the merrier. Always rinse the biomedia in tank water, not tap water. It will take 4-6 weeks to get the benificial bacteria growing...

Any other q's?
