Seeing as it's suggested that a filter should be selected to maintain 3x the size of a turtle's enclosure, does that also apply to the filter media?

I'm using a Rena FilStar xP4 in a 90 Gallon Aquarium, so it states on the packet of a Bio-Zorb (as well as any other pouches of Rena Chemical Media), that one pouch handles 55 US Gallons. Of course, this applies to fish, so would I need 3x that amount for my turtles, so 3 pouches? Or would I need 3x that of my 90 Gallon enclosure, making that around 6 pouches? I hope not, because six pouches would use up nearly all of my baskets, even three is taking up a little too much space.

Same goes for my Bio-Media, as in a pack of 20 Rena Bio-Stars, it says 20 will maintain 100 US Gallons, so would I need 60? This too, would take up a lot of my basket space.

So, does the 3x filter to habitat apply also to media, or am I overthinking this?
Hey hey hey.

If the filter is rated 3X, then go with what the instructions are for it. Bio Media is always good, I would go with at least 2 pouches but 4 pouches would be nice. You can always have the water tested to see if the bio media is able to handle the load.
