sorry to bug ya but i couldnt find any info on my question..

ok..i bought two of those flukers ceramic clamp lamps..and i got a reptisun 10.00 in one for uvb/uva. and in the other a 75 incandescent bulb for heat..

but the light bulb is getting the clamp lamp really really hot...and i can smell the ceramic when i walk in the room..is there a fire hazard?? or should i get a lower watt incandescent bulb??

I don't think I've ever 'smelled' the ceramic but I do know all my ceramic heat lamps get incredibly hot. I've never had a problem as far as it being a fire hazard. I think as long as you make sure the wattage of the bulb isn't higher than the wattage on the lamp then you're fine. The wattage on my lamps is something crazy like 250w

I run my 100 watt bulbs in the ceramic clamp lamps with no problems. They will get very hot though so make sure that nothing else is touching the base of the lamp that could melt or catch fire. Sometimes the new lamp will have some residue or dust on it that will smell for a while when first used. It should go away. If it doesn't you should check it to make sure nothing is malfunctioning or that something else isn't burning.

Possibly what you smell could be because the lamp is new and whatever is there needs to burn off.
