I want to get a bigger and better filter since my turtles are getting bigger and making more of a mess.What type should I get thats not to expenisive

What size is the tank (and how big are your turtles---their shell lengths not including the curves)?

My turtles are about 3 1/2 inches and have a 20 gal tank

Each turtle is 3.5 inches? If so, first get a bigger tank and then get a canister filter.
