I just bought an air pump and a couple of air disks for my tank. It looks cool and the turtles love to play in the bubbles! My concern is that the bubbles splash pretty high and I'm worried about the water splashing onto the UVB lights that are on top of the tank. The disks are just sitting on the bottom of the tank. Is there something I could put on top of them to make them less powerful so the water doesn't splash so high? I know they are supposed to go under gravel, but I don't want to put gravel in the tank. Any ideas?

How far above the basking area are your lights? They can be harmful if placed too close. The lights should be about a foot away. If the bubbles are splashing really high, you could get a valve to regulate the amount of air that goes into it, but i'm thinking maybe your lighting setup needs some adjustment. Can you try to explain how you have it set up for us?

I think my water level is probably too high right now. I added some cold water to it the other day because it reached 95 degrees in here and the water was too warm. I'm planning on cleaning the filter and tank today anyway so I think I'll just mess around with the set up when I do that.
Any ideas on how to keep a tank from overheating in the summer?

You can get a little in-line regulator for about a buck at any pet store. just cut the line somewhere convenient and hook it up. Then you can control the output by turning the little knob.
