Equipment Review and Discussion :: too many filter choices

Various accessories and equipment discussed here.

I'm upgrading from a 20 gallon tank to a 52 gallon tank this week and I'm looking for some recomendations on filters.

Right now I have a wisper and wouldn't mind upgrading to the "wisper power filter 60". But it is ment for 40-60 gallon tanks, and I'm trying to keep in mind the 2x the tank size rule.

I need something not too noisey because the tank will be 3 feet away from my bed so I wont be happy with any clicking or loud filters. The waterfall sound is fine. If it's extremly bad I'll rig something up to keep from making a large splash.

I'd like to keep it under 70 bucks too.

Any recomendations are appreciated!!

You can get an XP2 from www.drfostersmith.com for under $70 and they are practically silent and work wonderfully.

Properly set up, a canister filter will be more quiet than a power filter (one that hangs on the tank). For a 52(?) gallon tank, if you buy a Filstar, go with the XP3--it will grow with the tank as you upgrade. (And think of one rated 3X, not 2X--you'll appreciate having a more powerful filter when your turtle gets big. :))

They better. Or else they are going to be in big trouble. lol

I paid 18 bucks for expediated shipping. And then they called me and told me it was going to be 37 for that shipping. So I said noooo thank you. Now I gotta wait 7-10 days. Blah
