Looking to get a heater for my tank, its a 70 gallon and pretty much to the brim full (external basking area).

What wattage of heater should I get?

You could get a stealth 250 watt heater. It says its for aquariums up to 75 gallons.

Generally, allowing 3-5 watts per gallon of water is suggested, I usually use 5, which would mean a 350-watt heater for your tank if you only went by that calculation. I think it also depends to some extent on the ambient air temp of the room the tank is in. I have a 200-watt heater that says it's good for up to 90 gallons if the room temp is around 70F.

I have a 300W for my 75 gal. I got it for christmas last year :o :P
It's not a stealth, just Hagen brand, but it keeps the water totally constant.

Anyone ever heard of Visitherm Heaters? Found one for $25.95, for a 300wat one.

Next runner up is a Stealth 250watt heater for 29$

The visiterm one is cheaper, and heats more - but I've heard stealth being very good and haven't heard of the other brand.

Which should I get?

I've heard the Visitherm is good. The Visitherm Stealth is good because it's plastic and shatterproof whereas the glass Visitherm can shatter like other glass heaters.

I've had a glass Visitherm shatter and I wouldn't recommend them. They do make the Stealth, you can find a 250 watt for $20 at bigalsonline.com

Guess that anwsers my question, i'll go with the stealth off jlq's - bigals.com doesnt ship to canada, and their canadian based site will have it for more than jlqs i'm guessing. Kind of like the XP3 when I was on the market for that.
