I'm sure this has been addressed in the past, and I did a search to find the topic but could't.

I hooked up a Rena Filstar XP3 yesterdeay; had some trouble but once I got the tubes higher than the filter, things ran fine and the tank was crystal. My Sal loves the extra water in her tank but this morning the water was very cloudy. I scooped out extra food and junk that was floating around, cleaned the strainer and put pantyhose on the end (I've got a little duckweed in the tank). Turned the filter back on and it's running fine.

Nothing. Still cloudy. I've got the 20 & 30 sponges in the bottom, stars in the middle, bio chem zorb and another carbon at the top. Any ideas anyone?

The water should be cloudy for a week or two. This is because the "new filter sindrome". Everything is just starting to run new.

Thanks Emma. I finally found the string about it...believe it or not, the subject line was 'Cloudy Water New filter!' I was so close.

I'm going to do daily water changes until it clears up.
