This an airator w/ a colored light. I thought it might look cool and work as kinda a night light in the tank,, but what do you all think of it? do you think it will be too bright and keep the turtle up, or what?

It would certainly be entertaining for the turtle, but i'd want to get a good look at how it's put together before i put it in there. I wouldn't want him to be able to break off and eat anything dangerous. If you're worried that it might keep him up at night you could always put it on a timer.

yeah, thats the one part I wasn't entirely happy with. you can't turn off the light without turning off the bubbles. I really only WANT the light beacuse it would look so cool at night...I don't imagine the color is very noticable in the daytime. anyone accually USE something like this before?

Wow, that's pretty cool. I'm sure you can find other aerators that will do a similar thing if you don't want the light on, though.

that would be cool with the light.

is an airator a necessity or is it just good to have?

Depends on what you want to accomplish. Sometimes an airator can help circulate the tank water, keep the oily residue off the surface. Sometimes the turtles just love playing in the bubbles. Sometimes it's a fun decoration.

My turtle is indifferent to bubbles, so I haven't gotten one yet, though this is the coolest airator I've seen.
