I've got a 10 gallon tank w/hood and light that will be sitting in my closet collecting dust after I empty it tonight. My mom's friend wants a fish tank for her classroom. I'll sell it to her but I don't know how much is fair because I don't remember what I paid for it. Bought it new last year, housed my 2 res for about 3 days, then some goldfish briefly. What's fair?

10 gallon tanks around here cost about $10.. I think I bought mine for $15 and it came with gravel, fish flakes and a cheapo filter.

We can get a 10 gallon setup .. filter/hood/heater/tank for $45 brand new here.

I might just give it to her then. I thought it must've been more than that because I spent $200 on the original setup for the turts (before I knew better) 10 gallon tank, hood, light, gravel, cheapo filter

The hood is probably the most expensive part of a 10 gallon setup ($15-20 maybe)... I'm glad I used plastic containers

I'm not sure how it works in Canada. But in the US, you could give it to the school and claim it as a deduction on your tax's

I got (yet another) 10 gallon tank with a screen, gravel, and hood with two lights that work at a flea market this past Saturday for $3.00. New tanks are $9.99 at Walmart here.

That's pretty cheap. I've decided I'm just going to give it to her. It's not like I'm going to use it anyway and the money was spent a year ago so I'm not really losing anything. Thanks for the replies!
