I've used a Rena Filstar XP3 and think that would be one possibility that would work well in a tank that size. You'd have to check different sites (you could start with www.bigalsonline.com ), prices can vary, but in general have been rising from what they once were.

You could, depending on the size you're going to upgrade to.

If you get one, get the XP3. If you get the XP2 you're going to have to do what you just said you didn't want to do.

When sizing a filter pump take into account that turtles poo a lot more than fish. You will need to have a filter pump that pumps at least 5 time the volume you have in the tank I have a 55 with a 350 gph and it works just fine. Make sure you check out the gph and not some sizing that referes to a fish tank. GPH!

Try doing a search under aquarium filters.

When seaching check the gph and canister. Canisters are much easier to clean and maintain.

Mikee -- You are the right track in regards to the gph. Most folks don't look into the gallons per hour. It is better to have a little too much than a little too little. b.

Bascomb -- The extra money spent on more gph and extra filtering area is money well spent.

when your looking at prices check big als. if you find the filter you wont for less on a different site call big als and tell them. they will beat it by 5% but its only for orders over the phone.
